What does "Exchange of Contracts" mean?
This is when the contract becomes binding between buyer and seller. Up until this moment, the buyer is free to withdraw from the purchase, for any reason, without penalty. Exchange takes place over the telephone between the solicitors of the buyer and seller. Clients are not present at this time. A Completion date is set at this time. This is set in stone and cannot be changed.

Why Use A Solicitor?
Many people begrudge the money they have to spend when they buy or sell property. Who can blame them? The government's stamp duty, the estate agent's fee, the HIP pack, all the search fees, the new, more expensive land registry fee, and then of course the solicitor's fee. Some people try to cut out the estate agent, others try to cut out the solicitor. Cutting out a woodford green solicitor is a really bad idea! Use a qualified professional for your property transaction, or you are very likely to regret it!
