What does "Completion" mean?
This is when the buyer becomes the legal owner of the property and can move in. As early as possible on the agreed day, the buyer's solicitor will send the balance of the purchase money to the seller's solicitor. The seller's solicitor will notify the estate agent and the seller when the transaction is complete. Only then should the keys be released to the purchaser. This usually takes place around noon but could be as late as 5pm.
When a price is agreed for a property, what happens next?
If you have not already done so, you should instruct a solicitor immediately. You should then give the contact details to your estate agent. The estate agent will then write to all interested parties to get the ball rolling.
